Big Lip
Alex “Big Lip” Chisholm has been a household name in South Florida radio for the past 20 years. The Philadelphia native, born Alex Chisholm, got his start in radio in 1992 at the tender age of 17 as a mixer at WUSL Power 99. Big Lip continued to work at Power 99 while he attended Cheyney University in Pennsylvania where he was an honor student, class president, member of the Football team and Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity Inc. After Graduating with honors in 1997, Big Lip hung up his turntables to pursue his dreams of being an announcer and Comedian. He did stand up comedy while working at WTMG in Gainesville (Florida), Hot 1039 in Columbia (South Carolina), and 102 Jamz in Greensboro (North Carolina) before landing the night time slot at 99 JAMZ in 2000.
In July of 2004, 99 JAMZ replaced their morning show that had slipped to 4th place with “The Big Lip Morning Show.” As with the night show, he experienced instant success in the AM. The morning show went to #1 in the very first ratings period. He consistently held the #1 position through his entire morning show tenure. After 8 years of having the #1 morning show, Big Lip transitioned from 99 Jamz and took his talents to Power 96. Initially working as a part-time announcer, he continued with his infamous on-air comedic antics for two years until he was added to the “DJ LAZ Morning Show” in October 2012.
After exiting Power 96 in Nov 2017 Big Lip Launched his Morning Show at Fly 98.5 in Ft Myers gaining immediate success and Securing #1 Ratings within 6 mos. After 1 year at Fly 98.5, Big lip came back home to CMG Miami in July 2018 where he was teamed up with Shelby Rushin with “The Show” on HOT 105 in Afternoon Drive from 3pm to 7pm. Throughout his success, he has continued to give back to the community with a host of non-profit organizations throughout Dade and Broward Counties.
